How the Illusion of Time Screws Up Our Ability to Manifest Our Desires

The main problem we all face when trying to tap our inner power of intention to manifest our
desires is our illusion of time. Einstein worked on this problem for years until one night in the
middle of the night he found the answer to his questions. In simple, very layman, terms, time
is an illusion.

We can witness the three dimensions of our universe with our eyes. There is length, width,
and depth.

Just to emphasize this a little further examine a painting or photograph on your wall from
where you sit. These items are generally classified as being two-dimensional. They lack
true depth. However, when we look at an object on or near where we are sitting we see
an object that has length, width and depth.

As for time, it is most often thought of as just another dimension. The fourth dimension,
if you will. If you think of what one dimension of the three would look like it becomes
hard to imagine. For example, let's think of the dimension of length. Can you imagine in
your mind what that one dimension looks like or how it appears. For me, it is very
difficult. It probably is for you as well.

That is the way time actually occurs as well. It is a dimension in just one direction.
We tend to think of time as being a continuous thread or river flowing by us second by
second. In fact, it is just a single dimension like length. Or width. Or depth. So, the
question becomes then why is there a past, a present and a future if it is just one dimension.
Ah, that's a very good question and one that I find difficult to understand as much as you.
However, let us go back to that photograph or painting I had you contemplate a minute
or so ago.

We discussed how a photograph is actually just a two-dimensional object. We know
that to be correct from having experienced it so many times. Yet, we can directly relate
how that common photograph can present an illusion and relate that experience to our
concept of time.

When we look into a photograph we observe all the parts of the picture.
We realize that there are objects in that picture that have length, width and depth.
The photograph itself appears to have depth. Just think about a picture of mountains
or a canyon. There is certainly depth there. All three dimensions appear to be present.
That is...

Until we turn the picture sideways and realize that there is nothing behind the paper
the image appears on. Hmmm. We have a two-dimensional object giving us the
illusion of three dimensions. Do you understand that? If you do not understand anything that you read here then, please read it again.

So What Does This Have to Do With Time?

In reality, it has nothing to do with time. Except, it does make it apparent how our mind
can be tricked. As we all know, there is a past, present and future. At least, I mean to
point out, that is how we experience time. However, we would do well to change our
view point of time to a singular polar point.
That is correct. A point that allows us to view
all of life and time from one position as if we were standing at one point in space that
observes all time at once.

Such a point could be most easily thought of and considered if we relate it to something
we already know. For example, let's consider our illusion of time during our life to be
equivalent to the earth's equator. As the earth rotates, beneath our feet we experience
new time coming into our view in the direction of the rotation.

However, if we stood at the north or south pole and looked towards the equator we
could actually view all of the equator at any particular moment by directing our gaze
in that direction. From the north pole for example, we could look south to where we
are on the equatorial time line and see what is coming in the future from the direction
of rotation. Or, we could look behind where we are currently placed on the equatorial
time line and witness the past. Our view of time could be complete just by changing the
angle of our gaze. Got it?

Okay, that's a lot to bite off perhaps. Armed with this vision of how we can actually
view time from a polar position we can assume that, that polar position is actually
where we should witness time from. Many metaphysical and spiritual leaders, as
well as books like the Bible tell us we can have (manifest) anything that we say
and believe that we possess. This principle is in fact true. If you are one that does
not believe this then you have been duped by the illusion of time to believe otherwise.

If I Believe and State that I Have It , but It Isn't Here Then Where Is It?

That is the million dollar question is it not? So, here goes my explanation. It won't be
any easier to understand than the preceding explanation. However, once you grasp
what I am saying it will open new vistas of mind over matter for you. Vistas that
will be pertinent in your own life. After all, I don't expect your experiences to be
any where close to what I have experienced for better or worse. Happily, we
are all different.

The title above refers to our often uttered prayers and affirmations in order to manifest
a change in our life. Since, all we have, as we live life, is "the Now." We find
ourselves operating from a view point that destroys the rapid manifesting of our
desires. If we believe we have it (it being the object of our desire) and then look
around and ask where is it, we directly place an effect on our belief system. If seeing
is believing (which it is not) we then affirm or pray our desire and when it does not
appear we assume that it will never appear.

Paradoxically, it takes time for our manifestations to appear in the now for a
couple of profound reasons. One, (in Texan vernacular) there ain't no place to put all the stuff in our life if it all showed up at the same moment. Do you
understand that? For example, if we had all the cars that we have desired and manifested in our life at one time, where would we keep them. How could we drive them? You see the point, I hope. Then second, it takes time (still a paradox in the Now) for circumstances to be orchestrated to create our desire.

Let me explain that second issue in very simple terms we can all appreciate.
Let's say on Tuesday we all decided to manifest the same model of red convertible.
There wouldn't be enough of that type of car on the planet to fulfill all our our
desires at the same time. Someone, is going to have to wait for that red convertible
to manifest in their life. You see, we need to be able to wait for circumstances to be
fulfilled to manifest our desire. This is just a simple example.

Interestingly, though, from our polar viewpoint we can look down on that equatorial
time line and see exactly when that red convertible will show up in our reality.
Once you have grasped this understanding of the illusion of time you can easily
understand why affirmations generally have such a low success rate in producing
lasting change in our life. Certainly, you can see how easy it is for us mere mortals
to believe that if it is not here now it will never be here at all. Which, of course,
was the point of this article.

All we have is The Here and Now. As Dr. Wayne Dyer puts it. Our desires come
from No Where. When they finally arrive they are Now Here. And when we no
longer have need of them they once again disappear in to the No Where. Witness
how nowhere and now here are all the same letters just spaced differently. "Spaced"
differently. Time and Space. There is no distance in time and space. It is all here now.

So, all that gobbledygook being said, be patient for what you intend to manifest.
Although we create that change or object of our desire immediately, it takes a while
for circumstances to be arrayed on our behalf and manifest itself. In the words of a
country gentleman, "don't shoot yourself in the foot!" Be patient. Patience is a virtue.
And...manifestation is real. It just takes time for it to arrive.
Remember, it's called manifestation not magic.

Time is an illusion. In another word, time is a nonsense. Very usefull notion for the mind but not existing in reality. Maybe practically it does not make difference but it should be understood for the sake of truth. Nevertheless, this understanding makes a huge difference philosophically because nonexistence of time means nonexistence of space. Why? Because, if we want to experience the space (change dimension or move in space) we have use the time. Space is created by three dimensions or distances from the origin. Basic formula fom elementary physics says: distance equals time multiplied by speed. Is this clear? Following: it simply means that our physical world does not exist - or - it solely exists in "our" mind. There are, off course, other implications of this philosophical point of view like: what really exists and why we experience the time as having only one direction (question of time travel).

Further to the comment left by Janusz from Toronto, Griff was going well until, after having realised that when You look from a higher dimensionality so that the arrow of time becomes ONE - and so does SPACE - you have also lost the egoic illusion of a separated 'self' !! So, Griff's going back to use this understanding to change the world in which his illusory separated self can have 'new things' is trying to have it both ways. Griff has an 'I'dentity problem - is he the separated 'self' He is looking 'at' or the ONE unseen SELF [who is :"all and in all"] who is doing the looking from that higher dimensional perspecitive - but has 'fallen' into a massively schizoid illusion of separation and specialness! Is it "my name is Legion for me are many" or "ONE SELF" - and if it is the latter then looking for 'separate interests' is meaningless. This is the profound gap in the thinking of books like The Secret!!

Addendum to my last comment. My reference to and "ONE unseen SELF [who is :"all and in all"] who is doing the looking from that higher dimensional perspecitive - but has 'fallen' into a massively schizoid illusion of separation and specialness!" was not meant to refer to Griff, of course, but rather to that one Mind that has taken a 'prodigal journey' into a far and distant land called "space time" where the 'memory' of that Oneness has been 'temporarily' forgotten. This is akin to Schrodinger's famous comment "Multiplicity is only apparent, in truth, there is only one mind." My egoic mind would tell me I am special but this is only "apparent" hence if I wish to 'know' Who the 'I am' is in "I am .... " then it is imperative that when I look upon the faces of all others I 'see' my own real self -- for only then will I 'remember' who that "I am" is in all.

well im a highschool student and ive looked up many things about time and space. ive seen almost all movies. i've even read the secret or the laws of attraction. But when dealing with time and space, if you guys know so much about it and can have an idea of changing it why dont you? what im trying to say is what keeps you connected to this so called illusion of time? why dont you become all knowing and change your past or your future? why not change the universe itself? this is the true question that needs to be answered. humans have a flaw in wanting something or saying they need something. but in fact we need nothing. if time is an illusion then life itself does not exist. we stay in the illusion because of what ever reason is keeping us here!

Man you guys can really hit the nail on the head! Here’s some more brain food for you. Love is the only truth, everything else is an illusion. Let me explain myself a little more. Ever since this illusion of time has formed in our brain (not your mind they are not the same thing) it has disconnected us from consciousness that is “all”. When you “see” or “feel” true love you have the sense that “time” has itself stopped and only love is the occupancy. Once this is realized you will see the illusion that is time. And that in fact the one thing surrounds and connects us all is love.

Time, space, the body, the earth, the universe(s), individuality, energy, are ALL illusions. Phil is right...the entire ego world of perception(consciousness) is all in our mind...the Universal ONE Mind. Anything that changes is not true "reality". We are living in a state of amnesia, having forgotten that we are one with each other and with our Source. This is nothing new, but being completely metaphysical, it is difficult to grasp. It is not something that we will ever understand intellectually because our intellects are so limited. However, it is all there, in our sub-conscious. Here in this world, in which we appear to live, we need words to name, define and describe. The words are symbols for things we can understand. When we speak of things like 'Love, God, Heaven, Enlightenment, there are no defining words....There is...only the experience".....where in, the true reality of who you are , will tell you of itself..... outside of which,  there is no time or space.

And how can mind reach this experience of no self! Jhanic Meditation has been a proven method for over 6,000 years. It is simply mind refining mind, there is no self behind it. No Atman, no Soul. The Buddha called it "Blowing out the flame." The result of which is ineffable.

To reach the experience of no self, the spark which ignites the flame to burn all illusions- who am I? Hold this question within

I love the thought that has been given to this topic" time and space are an illusion”. Certainly, man has created these concepts as they are meaningful ways of measuring our life. Where I must greatly disagree in the essay is the suggestion that this theory somehow robs man of his own reality. Are you truly suggesting the only reason I cannot be wealthy nor have my “red car”, is due to a shortage of the product itself? Quite frankly, this is reaching and a bit weak.

How can any rational being believe in such a profound “manifest” or self-creating world? Did I really choose to stub my toe on the way to the kitchen to feed the cats? No, I was careless and in a hurry.

Time being a river is a fine analogy. I can envision a boat on this very same river Now, it is in front of me; moments ago, it was well before me; soon it will pass me. It does not matter what time zone I view this river from, after all, time zones are based upon the Earth’s rotation around the sun; the greatest amount of day light is the goal. So let us not confuse the intent of man creating time and space. They are necessary to our daily routines.

Furthermore, are you suggesting that the sick and dying are not cured because they somehow do not understand your theory on time and space? Do these people not want to live and be freed from their hellish existence? Of course these people want to live and be healthy. No simple manifesting will change this either. Life is real. The thoughts in your head-are real. They may not have true long lasting and meaningful consequences, but they are real.

Anyway, I enjoyed the article, but found it to be mostly baseless and depraved of reality. Maybe I will manifest a few million dollars. Worry not, I am actually quite patient!

Actually, we do create our world and it's done by our thoughts. What needs to be taken into account with all of these different theories, is that our thoughts are what create the reality we experience. This being said, one might see that the stubbing of a toe was not by chance or accident, it was walking through a thought one had previously whether conscious of it or not. The realty we experience in the moment is the Reflection of or the manifestation of previous thought. If we can understand this, we can understand how we experience what we experience. Where does a thought go? A thought exists, it is energy and is thus manifested physically. Of course the conscious brain would never choose to stub a toe and experience pain, but the previous negative thought must be played out in some way, thus, a stubbed toe. How the thoughts manifest into what crud or wonderful things we walk into is another whole subject.

As far as the sick and dying, it is not so important one understand time or space. It is important that they understand their their sickness is merely a manifestation of their thoughts. Hard to believe from a conscious brain point of view, but it's true. Those who are sick and dying could change their health just by changing their thoughts. One must understand that disease is not always a bad thing, it is only the consciousness that judges it as negative. Perhaps the spirit is ready to move on and is using the disease to exit the body. You could say, why a long horrible disease instead of a fast car wreck or heart attack? One reason might be because the disease is the manifestation pertinant to the person's thought patterns (conscious or subconscious thoughts) or perhaps the spirit wants to experience what it is like to be a diseased body. Spirit does not see anything as good or bad, it is our consciousness that deems it good or bad. Spirit loves every experience. Even when someone it tortured to death, the spirit loves the experience and when it leaves the body, it may be saying something like, Wow, that was the best experience ever! Why would spirit come here to experience only positive things? It comes here to experience, perhaps especially those things we percieve as negative. What else would be the point? Spirit wants all experience, it is we humans that view it as good or bad and that jusgement in itself is an experience is it not?

So, the thoughts in our heads are real, but real only to the Ego conscious brain, that part of us that believes the illusion. One can actually get outside of the illusion by thinking thoughts condusive to that result. Change your thoughts and watch your reality change in accordance if you don't believe this is possible. I personally have watched myself change my thoughts (negative thinking patterns) and have observed my diseased bodychange in accordance and through "Time" become fully functional, healthy and disease free! The glitch for me is still the illusion of Time. This process was slow and took some time and I am aware now that if I did not still believe or exist in the illusion of time, it cold have been an instant change or thought manifestation rather than gradual, I just do not believe I am capable of eluding time's illusion, yet, but that's coming!

Everyone here now agrees that we are trapped in the biggest illusion of humankind... And I THINK once we 've come to this stage, the last thing we need to know is : we are all nothingness, nothing more than nothingness. If you don't seem to understand, while you 're still trapped by the illusion, just imagine nothingness would be like : you are at everywhere in this universe at the same time, being everymind in the universe at the same time, and lastly, you are in the past, present and future ( at the same time ?!? LOL )... That means, you 've kill the term "infinity" - the key of the hole illusion...( you have to know that , the first and the last thing i said was from Quantum mechanic, the theory that lead to the term " Parallel Universe" - which said there were an "inifinite" number of universes exist at the the same time , funny eh ? )
